I bought a birdhouse at the Crafting fair. Just 5 euro, a bargain. So I also bought some  Mod Podge and a couple of napkins to finish my project.

First you paint the birdhouse a color you prefer. I chose white.

Then I put on a little layer of Mod Podge and put the napkins on. Again giving it a tiny layer of Mod Podge.

Because the colors were a little bit dull, I painted the roof a bright color of red, to really make it pop.

After the paint dried, I gave it a final layer of Mod Podge as a lacquer.

And believe it or not, but the first day the birdhouse hung in our apple tree a tiny tomtit came and peered inside. Marvelous!
